Tishman was engaged to establish a marketing strategy, hire a consulting team and supervise significant capital upgrades to 165 Halsey Street in Newark, New Jersey. Tishman became associated with the property through the leasing of a full floor to one of the new CLECs (Competitive Local Exchange Carriers) formed from the Telecommunications Deregulation Act of 1996, when it was a completely vacant former department store. Tishman executed a business plan repositioning the property into one of the nation’s premier Telecom/Data Center and Colocation facilities of 1.2 million square feet with an owner managed colocation facility of over 180,000 square feet.
